Celebrate the 2026 Ships to Shore Festival with the Gulf of Georgia Cannery! Join us at the Cannery outreach booth at Garry Point Park on May 2nd and 3rd to celebrate the deep maritime connections between Japan and Canada as the Kaiwo Maru returns to Steveston.

About the Event
Learn all about the fascinating history of Steveston’s Japanese Canadian communities and their impact on West Coast fishing and canning. Experience live musical talent from local Japanese Canadian artist Kevin Takahide Lee. Plus, get creative and celebrate Japan’s annual Children’s Day with a salmon-themed koinobori craft decorated with canned salmon labels from the Cannery’s past!
About Ships to Shore Festival: Ships to Shore is a free, waterfront event celebrating maritime heritage, culture and community. Add a unique cultural and maritime experience to your weekend as the Kaiwo Maru docks at Steveston’s historic waterfront.
