Book Release

We hope you’re hungry……. for a brand-new book from The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society!

The all-new Cannery publication Fish Tales: Cannery Community Cooking, Past and Present is set to arrive on shelves on June 7th, 2026. Born out of the Cannery’s previous Feature Exhibit Fish Tales, this unique volume blends Cannery history, community memories, and recipes from local Cannery workers, visitors, staff, and more!

Fish and seafood are key to the history of Steveston and the West Coast of BC, and have long been present in the diets and cooking traditions of the people living here. Explore the many ways that fish and seafood—and the preparation thereof—connect us; to our local lands and waters, to our families and friends, and to our wider cultures and communities. Fish Tales: Cannery Community Cooking, Past and Present encapsulates some of these connections, alongside 28 unique community recipes featuring local fish and seafood staples!

From June 7th, find this all-new Cannery publication at the Cannery Store.

EXCLUSIVE OFFER: Visit the Cannery on June 7th and purchase a copy of Fish Tales: Cannery Community Cooking, Past and Present and receive 10% off your admission to the museum!
