Be the first to experience the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site's upcoming Japanese and Japanese Canadian-focused tour content! In development now for release in 2027, the Cannery is creating expanded tour content focusing on the voices, communities, and experiences that have previously been overlooked in historical narratives.

Celebrate Culture Days 2026 with an exclusive guided tour of the first of these upcoming offerings: Japanese Canadian Stories of the West Coast! This 45-minute tour, will be offered exclusively during Culture Days 2026, and will introduce attendees to a selection of the stories we plan to include in new 2027 Cannery self-guided and guided experiences.
This is the first of several upcoming projects aiming to connect the diverse perspectives of West Coast communities to the stories of BC’s West Coast fishing and canning industries. What missing, stories, experiences, or perspectives do you want the Cannery to share? After the tour, tell us how we can continue to support the voices of unheard communities past and present.

Tour sessions take place during BC Culture Days period on selected weekend afternoons:

– Saturday, October 3, 2 pm – 2:45 pm
– Sunday, October 4, 2 pm – 2:45 pm
