About the Event
From the sandy shores to the deep sea, our Coastal waters are full of life. The creatures that live in our waters are beautiful, but they can also be strange, unusual, and unsettling before you get to know them.
Journey to the ocean’s depths and get familiar with the wonderful world of underwater creatures in The Haunted Sea! Encounter colourful creatures made of upcycled materials and learn how you can protect the ocean life encountered throughout the experience.
Suitable for families and children. Regular admission rates apply with youth 17 years and under free. Drop-in any time during operating hours.

What to expect:
- It will be dark with low light, black lights and a smoke machine. There are no jump scares or strobe/flashing lights.
- Due to our building’s unique placement over the water and historic architecture, it is colder inside the Cannery than it is outdoors; please dress appropriately to stay comfortable.

Haunted Sea Opening Day Art Workshop – Plastic Bag Ghost Jellyfish

Something spooky is coming to a craft workshop near you… It’s ghost jellyfish! Join us at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery on Saturday, Sept. 27th, to make a giant ghost jellyfish out of recycled plastic to go into this year’s Haunted Sea installation!
Begin with a tour of 2025’s awe-inspiring Haunted Sea on its opening day, and see the space where your jellyfish will swim! After your tour, get ready to create as workshop guides lead you through the steps of turning plastic bags into floating friends. Your jelly creation will be donated to the Haunted Sea installation, where you visit it until November 2nd when the installation closes.
Worried about leaving your craft behind? All participants will leave with a take-home craft to create their own personal jelly friend.

In connection to this year’s Haunted Sea, get ready for a special collaboration between the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Ocean Legacy, and the One Ocean Film tour! Join us weekly for one-time only screenings of 2025’s exclusive film programme, highlighting the beauty, diversity, and importance of our oceans, the marine life that inhabits them, and us. Each film screening session includes free access to The Haunted Sea installation, private access to view One Ocean films in the historic Boiler House Theatre, and an optional tour of Ocean Legacy’s facilities and sustainability work.
About the One Ocean Film Tour: The One Ocean Film Tour is a world-class series of ocean-loving films focused on adventure, the aquatic environment and inspirational stories. The tour was created in 2020 with the vision to increase awareness about ocean protection and conservation by sharing films made by people who have dedicated their lives to the ocean and all her glory. One Ocean Film Tour is a spectacular visual journey in itself. Join us! Immerse yourself in the mighty power of One Ocean!
