Lunar New Year at the Cannery

 

Happy Lunar New Year! It’s the year of the Rabbit.

In celebration, the Cannery is offering two new crafts for kids. We have colourful lanterns kids can decorate themselves and paste together. As well, there is an origami station set up so the kids and parents can make an object of their choice: a boat, a fish, a rabbit face, or a bunny. Bring the family, and work together to make fanciful creations!

Don’t forget to bring a donation for the Richmond Food Bank as a part of our Tin Can Challenge, and you’ll receive two for one admission into the Cannery.

Do you feel a state of calm coming over you? The Year of the Rabbit is a peaceful year, one that will be far more tranquil than the previous “Tiger” year, and give us the necessary rest to revive ourselves from a time of uncertainty and stress.

The Year of the Rabbit is the fourth in the cycle of the Chinese New Year, occurring every twelve years. It begins on February 3, 2011, and runs until January 22, 2012. [Read full article].
