Steveston’s winter market, featuring local artisanal products and makers, features locally-sourced handcrafted products for your holiday shopping needs. Don’t miss the Steveston Festival of Trees, on display inside the Cannery until December 31st, as local merchants and organizations decorate trees in a friendly competition for your votes! The winner of most votes will be announced at the December 16th market.
At 1pm, a special Food Skills Workshop presented by the Richmond Food Security Society will take place inside the Boiler House Theatre. Advice on how to handle holiday leftovers, and practice better food waste management will be the topic of the day, with instructions on how to debone, brine, and roast white and dark meat separately. Learn how to make a delicious stock from the bones that you can freeze.
Admission to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is free on market days, with guided heritage tours available by donation.
