It sure is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, and we’re not just talking about the temperature!
This weekend, on November 29th, we kick-off the annual Festival of Trees, presented in partnership with the Steveston Merchants Association. Festive trees will light up the Cannery, decorated by local Steveston merchants and organizations. Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite with a donation to the Richmond Food Bank. *Regular admission to the Cannery will apply on non-market days.
Be sure to come and visit this Sunday (Nov. 29) for the Cannery Farmers’ Market, from 10am to 3pm — admission to the market is free, with guided tours offered by donation to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society. Get a head start on your holiday shopping!
The next market will be held on Sunday Dec. 6, which will also coincide with the 12th Annual Christmas in Steveston Village. On this day, among other village-wide festivities, Santa himself will sail into Steveston harbour, and then meet with all the little ones inside the Cannery’s Boiler House Theatre from 2-4pm (bring your own camera for photos, and drop by early — after 12pm — to pick up a timed-ticket from the Cannery to ensure a spot on Santa’s knee).
