Can you spot the pirate flag on this boat? Despite the unique flag, Lasqueti Sons is actually an active fishing vessel we spotted outside the Canadian Fishing Company (Canfisco) net loft next to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site. This vessel was built in Vancouver by John Manly Ltd in 1976. Although Lasqueti Sons is a much bigger vessel than the Princess Colleen which was behind the Cannery a few weeks ago, it is also a seiner. This vessel uses its seine net to catch salmon and herring.
Lasqueti Sons is named for Lasqueti island, a small island in the Strait of Georgia that is home to the Lasqueti Fishing Company, the current owner of this vessel.
